ABOUT THE EASTERN SHORE
The Eastern Shore of Maryland is renowned as one of the greatest places in America for hunting, shooting, sailing, salt and freshwater fishing. Its quaint waterfront town like historic Chestertown and Easton offers sunset cruises, kayaking, fishing, boating, sailing, art galleries, antiquing, farmers’ and Artisans market, local seafood including famous Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab and the second largest collection of 18th century structures.
Eastern Shore Maryland homes for sale provide residents with a relaxed style of living. Worcester County, located on the Atlantic Ocean side of the peninsula, is Maryland’s only ocean-front county. It is best known as the home of Ocean City, one of the most popular resort towns on the east coast. Ocean City begins at the Ocean City Inlet, which was formed during a 1933 storm, and extends northward to the Maryland-Delaware state line at 146th Street. It offers visitors ten miles of beaches and twenty blocks boardwalk, in addition to nine golf courses and some of the world’s best fishing.
Wicomico County, located to the west of Worcester County, also borders the State of Delaware. The county is named after the Wicomico River, a 33-mile long tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. Salisbury is the county seat and the largest city on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Homes for sale in Salisbury are located near the banks of the Wicomico River. Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport, the only commercial airport on the peninsula, and Salisbury University are both located in Salisbury.
